As the NAES has expanded its presence in the Eastern Europan sphere, their Camelbot mechs have become more common - and so, inevitably, bits and pieces of broken 'bots from battlefields and black markets have ended up in the hands of the nomadic Soil Ghosts. Notorious tinkerers, the clever Soil Ghost engineers used what parts they had on hand to fix up jerry-rigged Camelbots of their own - which they named the Beset, after an ancient goddess of home protection.
The Beset's rudimentary, patched-up AI gives it the intelligence of a dog - one that is fiercely protective of and loyal to its owners. While they are too dumb and too scrappy to be used on the Soil Ghost's frontlines, the tribes who employ them have found that they can be excellent caretakers and guardians while the Warriors are off battling or the Hunters off hunting. Soil Ghost children are particularly fond of the Besets, often decorating them with unique and colorful graffiti telling the stories of their tribe. But despite their colorful appearance, interlopers will find that they are more than capable of defending themselves and their charges.
